Memorial Day 2017

Always a very special day for me.  Like Veteran’s Day, it is a time to honor our Nation’s fallen heroes.

There are several events locally and around the Nation in which we can participate.   However you choose to spend this kick-off-to-summer weekend, take a few moments to honor our fellow Americans.

Stay safe!!

Renew

..to begin or take up again, as an acquaintance, a conversation, etc.; resume,

..to restore or replenish,

..to revive; reestablish, or

..to restore to a former state; make new or as if new again.

“So as long as a person is capable of self-renewal, they are a living being.” ~Henri Frederic Amiel

“We must always change, renew, rejuvenate ourselves;  otherwise we harden.”  ~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

“To cherish what remains of the Earth and to foster its renewal is our only legitimate hope of survival.” ~Wendell Berry

“We need quiet time to examine our lives openly and honestly..   spending quiet time alone gives your mind an opportunity to renew itself and create order.”  ~Susan Taylor

This week as I wish you well, I invite you to reflect and renew.

Gentleness

We all know someone who exudes gentleness in their words, actions and demeanor.  I admire them.

Today I share some quotations about gentleness that reflects the energy of this part of human being.

“Of course, when I say that human nature is gentleness, is not 100 percent so.  Every human being has that nature, but there are many people acting against their nature, being false.”  Dalai Lama

“Only the weak are cruel.  Gentleness can only be expected from the strong.”  Leo Buscaglia

“That inner voice has both gentleness and clarity.  So to get to authenticity, you really keep going down to the bone, to the honesty, and the inevitability of something.”  Meredith Monk

“Nothing is so strong as gentleness.  Nothing is so gentle as real strength.”  Ralph W. Sockman

Wishing you all a blessed week!

Maia

May was named for the Greek Goddess of fertility, Maia.  The last of the months of Spring, May blossoms full of beauty.  The promise of the Maiden blushes full of fecundity.

Wholly wakened from Winter’s sleep, Gaia buzzes and hums with activity.  Beltane, Cinco de Mayo, National Teacher’s Day, Mother’s Day, and Memorial Day top a large list of May celebrations.  Add the Indy 500 and the Kentucky Derby and there is something for everyone.

In the Northern Hemisphere the Sun strides toward the Summer Solstice.  And after a record setting winter of much needed rain, the Sun feels wonderful!

May is time for putting plans into action; planting in the garden of life; a time of hope and renewal.

Time to plant a beautiful, lush garden.
